Why We Love Tallow for Skin

Our handcrafted, traditionally rendered beef tallow balm is small batched. It is a rich, nourishing fat that softens, conditions, and protects the skin. Can be used all over the body, face, feet and especially your hands.

Known to be rich in vitamins A, D, E and K, tallow is naturally rich in skin-compatible fatty acids, including oleic, palmitic, and stearic acids. The fatty-acid profile in tallow is similar to the natural lipids found in our skin, making it a deeply moisturizing emollient that helps soften dry, rough skin and support the skin’s natural moisture barrier.

We slowly infuse our tallow with carefully selected botanicals traditionally valued for skin care:

Calendula — Gentle, soothing and aids in repair of the skin. Provides deep hydration for dry, delicate, or weather-exposed skin. Has anit-inflammatory, antimicrobial and antioxidant properties.

Plantain Leaf — Soothes and conditions irritated or stressed skin. Has allantoin which encourages skin cell growth and tissue repair.

Lavender — Provides natural antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties that help soothe and balance the skin.  The aroma is calming.

Rose — Prized for mature and delicate skin, rose helps create a luxurious, softening botanical infusion and fragrance.

Rosemary — Naturally rich in antioxidant plant compounds and used to tone and condition the skin.

Frankincense — A treasured aromatic resin providing anti-inflammatory, anti-aging, and skin-healing benefits. Especially beneficial for mature, dry, and weathered skin.

We finish our balm with Jojoba, a lightweight liquid wax with an exceptional affinity for the skin. Jojoba helps soften and condition without leaving the skin feeling overly greasy.
